Overview

Day 1: Johannesburg – Hazyview We depart from Johannesburg heading east towards the province of Mpumalanga – to find an abundance of scenic beauty, excellent climate and wildlife. We also visit Pilgrim’s Rest, a national monument in its entirety, owes its origin to the discovery of alluvial gold in 1873. We visit the cemetery in this quaint town where all the graves face one direction except the grave of an unnamed robber who was banished from the town after stealing a tent. (Perry’s Bridge Hollow or similar) (D)

Day 2: Hazyview – Kruger National Park It is difficult to conceive of an area of greater historical, scenic and wildlife diversity anywhere in the world. Attractions on this day range from the largest man-made pine and eucalyptus forest in Africa, the scenic beauty of God’s Window where the escarpment abruptly plunges 1000 meters down to the Lowveld, crashing water spills and Bourke’s Luck Potholes- huge artistically eroded holes scoured into rock. We visit various viewpoints overlooking the largest green canyon in the world – Blyde River Canyon. During the late afternoon we will enter the Kruger National Park in the Southern part. You board an open game drive vehicle and enjoy an en route game drive to your camp. This part of the Reserve consist of small hills and rocky outcrops dominated by Knob thorn, Marula and Bush Willow Trees. Experience true South African hospitality as your guide prepares a true South African meal before settling in for a well deserved rest. (Kruger National Park) (BD) or similar

Day 3: Hazyview The Kruger National Park is an area where lion, elephant, leopard and rhino roam freely through landscapes where little has changed over the last hundred years. We enjoy a full day of game viewing, stop at waterholes, lookout points and picnic spots, at regular intervals to enjoy meals and refreshments. The openness of the game drive vehicle allows you to smell the sun warmed grass and fresh aroma of dung dropped by elephants. Rangers in a particular area are in radio contact with each other which ensures finger on the pulse game sightings.

Day 4: Hazyview or Kruger National Park – Swaziland The Kingdom of Swaziland is the best example of a country living in the old African traditions and beliefs, where history and tradition are carefully taken into the 21 century. We cross the Swaziland border at the Jeppe’s Reef. A scenic drive along Maguga damwall leads us to the “Sobhuza II” memorial enclosure which bring a tribute to the King who led the Swazi nation to independence in 1968. We visit the Ngwenya glassfactory where a group of Swazi craftsmen – with age old artistry – breathe life into enchanting interpretations of animals and birds of Africa crafted from recycled glass collected by the people of Swaziland. The Swazi nation is well known for their crafts. Another opportunity to watch them at work is following the entire process of candle making. From the gentle softening of the two waxes, the deliberate moulding of each candle to the final trimmings. Each candle maker copies form and shape from photos then instills his own character into each individual piece. We arrive at our hotel in the late afternoon.
